Jerica Knox, Ph.D. School Psychology Intern

Thank you for choosing Family Enrichment Associates. My name is Jerica Knox and I am a graduate intern. I hold a Baccalaureate degree (BA) in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina--Columbia, and a Master’s degree (MS) in School Psychology from North Carolina State University. I am continuing my studies in School Psychology as a Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University.  I am a graduate intern who is still under the supervision of licensed counselors and psychologists.

My previous interning experiences include working in the school system with children and adolescents, working at a private practice with families, and working in a psychoeducational clinic with children, adolescents, and young adults. Thus, my experiences have prepared me to counsel children, families, and groups.

As a clinician, I am interactive and take a strengths-based perspective to treatment. This means that I utilize your strengths to help you create a plan for healing and progress. I draw from different theoretical orientations, including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based cognitive, and family systems. I utilize a variety of techniques including psychoeducation, relaxation skills training, cognitive restructuring, role-playing, mindfulness, therapeutic games, and parenting skills training. Additionally, I may assign tasks between appointments to help strengthen the skills acquired through therapy sessions. Thus, it is important for you and your child to take an active role in treatment, during and outside of therapy sessions. Similarly, communication is essential to a healthy therapeutic relationship. I will create an environment that is safe, honest, and respectful and will include you in the treatment planning and treatment process.
